Top 8 5G Smartphones in Canada, 2026
5G in Canada runs on sub-6 GHz spectrum. Rogers, Bell and Telus all build their 5G networks on mid-band n78 (3500 MHz) plus low-band layers such as n71 and n66, and mmWave has no meaningful consumer deployment here. That matters when you shop: a phone marketed on its mmWave peak speeds gains you nothing on a Canadian network, while support for n78 and the low-band carriers use for coverage is what actually determines the speed and reach you get. Every phone below is compared on the things that do change day-to-day use - chipset, display, battery and charging, and camera hardware.

What actually matters when buying a 5G phone in Canada
Marketing around 5G tends to focus on peak speeds you will never see. These are the points worth checking before you spend.
Bands over badges: confirm the handset supports n78 (3500 MHz) and the low bands your carrier uses. Imported or region-specific models often drop Canadian bands even though the box says 5G.
mmWave is not a Canadian buying factor: Rogers, Bell and Telus deliver 5G over sub-6 GHz, so mmWave support does not improve real-world speed here.
Software support window: update policy varies widely by brand and is the single biggest factor in how long a phone stays safe to use.
Battery and charging: capacity in mAh tells you only half the story - wired charging wattage decides how quickly you recover a day's use.
Camera hardware, not megapixel counts: sensor size, optical zoom range and stabilisation separate these phones far more than headline resolution.
Listing condition: several Canadian Amazon listings for older flagships are Renewed or imported units. Check the condition, the warranty and the seller before you buy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which 5G phone should Canadians buy for photos and AI?
The Google Pixel 7 Pro is the pick on this list for computational photography. It carries a 4.6 average rating and pairs a 50MP main sensor with a 48MP 5x telephoto and Google's Tensor G2 chip, which is what drives Night Sight, Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur. It runs clean Android and gets guaranteed Google updates, and it typically sells for well under the iPhone 14 Pro Max on this page.
What camera and display specs are listed for iPhone 14 Pro Max?
The iPhone 14 Pro Max pairs a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display (1-120Hz ProMotion) with a 48MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide and 12MP 3x telephoto, driven by the A16 Bionic chip. It is rated IP68 and holds a 4,323mAh battery.
Is the iPhone 14 Pro Max worth the higher price in Canada?
The iPhone 14 Pro Max sits at the top of this list with a 4.9 average rating thanks to its A16 Bionic chip, 48MP main camera and Super Retina XDR display. If you prefer Android, the Google Pixel 7 Pro (4.6) offers comparable photo quality and a longer guaranteed update window at a lower typical price, so the iPhone premium is mainly about the Apple ecosystem and chip performance. Note that many Canadian listings for both are Renewed units rather than new stock.
Do I need a phone with mmWave 5G in Canada?
No. Rogers, Bell and Telus run their 5G networks on sub-6 GHz spectrum, principally mid-band n78 at 3500 MHz alongside low bands such as n71 and n66. mmWave spectrum has been licensed in Canada but there is no meaningful consumer deployment, so a handset's mmWave support will not change the speeds you see. Prioritise n78 support instead.
Conclusion
Prices, listings and stock on this page change often, and older flagships are frequently sold as Renewed or imported units in Canada. Confirm the exact model, condition and band support with the retailer before you buy. If you are after a specific phone or price point, use the search bar for a narrower list.
